Violence Is Never the Answer: A Reflection on Humanity in a Dark World
Let’s be real: a lot of sad, dark, and terrifying things happen in this world. They always have. Unfortunately, they probably always will.
What I find most painful isn’t just the violence itself, but how normal it’s become. The noise is constant. The division is loud. And somewhere in the middle of it all, humanity feels like it's getting lost.
What sparked this post is the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk. A shocking, tragic, and deeply unsettling act. But I’m not just writing about that single event. I’m talking about all of it: the collective, mounting violence we’re seeing around the world.
One act of hate doesn’t cancel out another. One life taken doesn’t make up for another lost. Violence is never the answer, no matter who the target is or what side someone is on.
What’s even more disturbing is how some people respond. Celebrating death? Justifying murder? That’s not justice. that’s the absence of sympathy and just an overall moral compass. And if someone can look at a tragedy and feel nothing... well, that’s something they need to face within themselves.
As for me? I’m heartbroken by the state of the world. I don’t turn a blind eye to any of it. I don’t pick and choose who to care about based on politics or popularity. I grieve every life lost. let me make that VERY CLEAR. I feel the weight of every act of violence. I carry it all and I lead with love. I teach my Children to be kind. I teach them to have sympathy for others. I teach them to LOVE EVERYONE. Just as Jesus taught when he walked this earth.
I know not everyone will agree. Opinions are powerful things. Beliefs can shape lives, but they can also ruin them. Having an opinion and standing loud and proud sharing them should never lead to harming someone else. We’ve forgotten how to disagree with compassion. We’ve forgotten that the people we argue with online, the people we yell at across aisles... they’re still human beings. I've been guilty of arguing and getting angry. I'm not perfect. We all mess up. that's just part of being human unfortunately. I can openly admit that though. We all need to do better.
I’m not here to debate. I’m here to remind anyone reading this: a moral compass still matters. Empathy still matters. Love still matters.
So if you’re feeling numb, or lost, or just overwhelmed by the darkness please know you're not alone. But don’t let it harden you. Don’t let the noise drown out your humanity. And whatever you do, don’t celebrate violence. Not ever.
Let’s be better than that. We have to be.
God Bless.
